What a year 2012 has been, and for me social media including Blether And Blogger has played a pivotal role.

It can be easy to forget though that at the heart of social media is people and when reflecting on my Christmas card from my wee man that was certainly one of the many thoughts that ran through my head.

Indeed, my last blog post served to remind me of that, both with who my actions as a Social Media Santa were benefitting but also in who I was connecting with. Later, you see, after writing my blog post I coincidentally met up with the Shelter Scotland Communications team at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Annual PRide Awards; they’d just been awarded Gold in the Not-for-Profit category for their campaign ‘No Room at the Inn for Scotland’s Homeless Children’.

People learn about sharing from an early age, although admittedly we all have moments of lapse. I genuinely believe though that what goes around comes around and nowhere is that more apt than through social media.

Without people social media would be meaningless, so from one person to another, have a Merry Christmas!
